Trusting the Steady Steed
A cowboy’s trust in his horse is as deep as the canyons they ride.
A fence post stands neath the wide-open sky,
With weathered wood that tells stories untold.
Its silence speaks of the years passing by,
A sentinel bold, in the harshness, so bold.
The prairies stretch wide, where the wild grasses sway,
And tumbleweeds dance neath the heat of the sun.
This lonely post watches the cowboys at play,
As they rove through the plains, their spirits outrun.
Through dust storms that howl, and the winters fierce chill,
It stands tall and firm, steadfast in its place.
A bond with the earth, worn but never still,
A symbol of strength in the wild, open space.
When dusk paints the sky with a fiery embrace,
And stars start to flicker in indigo gleam,
The fence post remains, a guardian of grace,
Rooted in solitude, it whispers a dream.
