Roundup on the Frontier
Every cowboy knows the importance of gathering strength before the storm.
In the blistering heat of the desert wide,
Cowboys on horseback, with dreams as their guide.
They spot in the distance a shimmer so bright,
A mirage plays tricks, in the soft fading light.
With a chuckle and grin, they draw closer still,
For the figures before them bend time to thrill.
The ruggedly handsome in awkward dismay,
Lopsided grins and mustaches in sway.
Round the campfire’s glow, their laughter does soar,
As dapper old cowhands morph into folklore.
Cowboys in spurs sport a dance not so grand,
Twisting and twirling in a silliness band.
As dusk paints the sky with a canvas of fire,
They ride back with memories, the mirage a wire.
For life on the range can be rough, that’s a fact,
But laughter and joy keep their spirits intact.
