A cowboy’s encounter with a talking lizard who claims to be the wise old sheriff of the desert

Kicking Up Dust on the Trail

The trail might be tough, but a cowboy always finds a way forward.

Beneath the sunburnt desert sky,
A cowboy rode where shadows lie.
His boots kicked dust, a trail of dreams,
Where silence echoed with whispering themes.

By an ancient rock, with scales so bright,
A lizard spoke in the fading light.
I’m Sheriff Sal, of tales untold,
I guard these lands, both fierce and bold.

With each bright word, the cowboy sat,
By wisdoms spark, in desert’s chat.
“Tell me your secrets,” he urged with glee,
As moonlight danced on sagebrush free.

Sal grinned and told of a bandit’s flight,
Of justice found in the shimmering night.
“Remember, friend, wisdom’s your friend,
For in each tale lies the journey’s end.”
